It is well known that coffee is the most loved drink by Italians, its irresistible aroma and taste manages to make everyone fall at its feet ☕

But on average, how much coffee do Italians drink? 🤔

THE STATISTICS 📈

In Italy, 9.3 million cups of coffee are consumed: approximately 97% of workers drink an average of 4 cups of espresso per day, usually two at home, one at the bar and one in the office.

80% of Italians do not give up their pleasure, it is no coincidence that we are considered the homeland of coffee !

Only 3% of the Italian population prefers other drinks to the intense and fragrant taste of a cup of coffee: they are in the minority, obviously!

Coffee is one of the symbols of Italy.

Virtually anyone, when asked “what is your relationship with coffee?” would answer “an infinite relationship of love!”.

However, there are differences between North and South.

The city where coffee consumption is highest is Naples ! You would never have expected it, right? 😂

Here, as many people already know, drinking coffee is a real ritual: in fact, if they ever offer it to you, never refuse it!

In second and third place, respectively, are Palermo and Rome, while the North takes the lead in the use and consumption of coffee pods and capsules .

However, however it is enjoyed, coffee remains an essential drink throughout our country.

Macchiato, Americano, decaffeinated or espresso?

Well yes, in addition to being the home of coffee, Italy is considered the home of espresso in general: it represents the most consumed type of coffee.

The reasons?

  1. 58% of those who drink it do so to find the right “energy” to face the day;
  2. 51% drink it for taste;
  3. 30% drink it out of habit;
  4. 53% see moments of relaxation in the cup;
  5. 37% consider drinking coffee a tradition to be carried forward.

To conclude, we can say that coffee has its benefits , especially when we are in the office and want to take a break.

In fact, taking the so-called “coffee break” could help to disconnect and unload the mind from stress and tension, encourages professional relationships and, finally, helps stimulate circulation by making us take a few steps to go to the bar or to the vending machine.
