COFFEE IN ITALY AND IN THE WORLD
It is true to say that coffee makes the world go round (if you didn't know, we at Caffè Haiti Roma also ship our products abroad), in fact without it how will we find the energy to get out of bed and get ready for school or work?
Coffee is the second most consumed beverage after water and is often the protagonist of many Italian and international hits.
5 SONGS ABOUT COFFEE
While waiting to write a song about Caffè Haiti Roma 😂 here are our 5 favorite songs that mention coffee:
☕ Peppina's coffee
At the Zecchino d'Oro in 1971 we talk about coffee, Peppina 's coffee , which for some reason cannot be drunk in the morning.
Winner of the thirteenth edition, this catchy and funny tune has remained in the memory of many Italians who have asked themselves " Why isn't Peppina's coffee drunk in the morning? " Here's the answer!
During the First World War, the habit of drinking coffee in the morning to be full of energy and go to fight spread among soldiers. They were the ones who brought this habit back home, but in that historical period the Italian population was not doing well economically and could not afford those precious energy grains.
To make do, the people who had emerged from the war battered and poor drank “Peppina’s coffee”, a bitter drink made with dried chicory and rye, since they could not afford a good espresso.
Hence the song: for its purifying and laxative properties, Peppina's coffee could not be drunk before going to work, that is, in the morning. As the nursery rhyme says, if you drank too much, it was better to go to bed without dinner.
“Peppina's coffee is not drunk in the morning
Neither with milk nor with tea but why, why, why”
☕ A cup of coffee
It was impossible not to mention the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Pino Daniele in this article .
Throughout his career, the artist has been able to embody Neapolitanness better than anyone else, speaking about love, friendship, social and political issues, Neapolitan, national and world.
In 1977 he stood out with his first hit in which he wanted to highlight the vice of the powerful of leaving the people in ignorance, granting them only a cup of coffee, as consolation, in the hope that at least he is good!
“Na tazzulella is café, and they never do anything there
we stink and make me, or they all know how many
and instead they gobble up the coffee to help us.”
☕ Hot black coffee
In 1981, Fiorella Mannoia appeared at the Sanremo Festival with "Caffè nero bollente" .
In this case, coffee is used as a metaphor , compared to a winter the color of boiling black coffee in which the woman regains the strength to say that she doesn't need anyone and that she is indispensable to herself.
Today this text is seen as an attempt at female emancipation, which aims to push women to respect themselves and run away from a man who ignores them.
“Street voices in the ear,
everything is unexciting
in this winter color
hot black coffee.”
☕ 7000 coffees
Ranking second at the Sanremo Festival in 2003, in this song Alex Britti talks about a long-distance love and the miles he drives to reach it, drinking coffee to stay awake.
“I need you like water and coffee”
☕ Coffee song
Among the most famous international songs related to coffee, there is The Coffee Song .
Song performed by Frank Sinatra , in 1976 he decides to talk about the shipment of coffee in Brazil and, ironically, states that there are no other drinks available.
“Coffee beans grow by the billions
So they've got to find those extra cups to fill”
Every musical genre has celebrated the most famous drink in the world and it is impossible to find someone who does not know at least one song about coffee!
